Camping and motorhomes are becoming increasingly popular in Europe. In France, according to a TF1+ report, this type of holiday is recognized as a preferred choice for many families. The feature shows four families: Belgian friends returning to the same campsite every year; a family trying winter camping; a family traveling the world in a motorhome; and a large family taking on the challenge of mobile travel.
In Bulgaria, according to Eurostat data for 2025, the number of overnight stays in campsites grew by 8.4% to 153,700, significantly exceeding the EU average growth of 1.1%. Camping.bg founder Veselin Vulev links this growth to the aftermath of the pandemic: "After the pandemic, people needed to be freer and closer to nature. This further accelerated the development of camping tourism." He notes a steady increase in interest in motorhomes and caravans, especially among people aged 35-60, and emphasizes the need for infrastructure development in Bulgaria.
In Sofia, the 12th camping tourism exhibition will be held from May 10 to 12, featuring new motorhome models and bringing together manufacturers from several countries.
