Sauna, Chalet, Yoga and More: New Offers at the Campsite in Neubäu

The island of Fehmarn in Schleswig-Holstein attracts surfers and campers. According to NABU, it is the sunniest region in Germany. More than half of all tourist overnight stays on the island are at campsites. A pitch for a motorhome costs between 30 and 50 euros per night.

On Monday, April 27, 2026, a 75-year-old man died in Wertheim-Vockenrot (Main-Tauber district) when his motorhome unexpectedly rolled backwards during repair work. The victim was trapped under the wheels and died at the scene.

Heinrich Hemling from Wessum has set up a motorhome parking spot on his property in Averesch. The 64-year-old, an avid camper himself, offers travelers short-term parking with electricity and shower facilities, near bike routes. The price is 9 euros per night.

A 75-year-old driver lost control of her car on a bridge exit in Hamburg, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a motorhome. She died in hospital. Police are investigating a possible medical emergency.

German manufacturer Bürstner (Hymer Group) announced it will completely stop caravan production from the 2027 season. The company will focus on motorhomes and campervans under the 'Bürstner Reloaded' strategy. Service and spare parts for existing caravans will continue.

On April 26 at around 5:15 PM in Wetter, at the Friedrichstraße/Karlstraße roundabout, a 57-year-old Fiat driver drifted left while exiting the circle and sideswiped an oncoming motorhome driven by a 51-year-old man from Stuttgart. A roadside breathalyzer test indicated an alcohol level exceeding 1.5 per mille. Police confiscated his driver's license and took a blood sample; the investigation is ongoing.
