Pembrokeshire and Moray councils launch overnight parking pilots for motorhomes and campervans, while a pub in Bury offers free stays for customers
Pembrokeshire: two-year pilot at Goodwick Moor car park
Pembrokeshire Council has launched a two-year pilot scheme for overnight motorhome and campervan parking at Goodwick Moor car park near Fishguard's ferry terminal. The cost is £10 per night, with a maximum stay of one night. A previous larger plan from 2024 was cancelled due to objections from local tourism businesses and Visit Pembrokeshire. The project will be monitored and evaluated after the trial period.
Moray: seasonal pilot in Burghead
Moray Council is launching a pilot project for overnight motorhome and campervan stays at a car park in Burghead. The scheme runs from April to November, costs £7 per night, with permitted hours from 18:00 to 10:00 and a maximum of one night. Payment is via an app, and the location was chosen due to local support and the availability of a waste disposal point at the harbour.
Bury: free overnight stays at a pub
The Help Me Thro’ pub in Bury, Greater Manchester, now allows customers to stay overnight in their motorhomes or campervans for free on its rear car park. Owners Stephen and Tom Haworth introduced the service after a friend slept in a van on the car park. The pub is near Manchester's tram network and Burrs Country Park. Bookings CAN be made by phone or online.
