Homeless man dies in Rome caravan fire caused by gas burner

On April 25–26 in Santa Giustina and Feltre (Italy), Lions Club volunteers performed 530 free screenings for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. The event was supported by two municipalities and involved 2 cardiologists, 4 doctors, nurses, and Red Cross volunteers. Screenings included blood pressure, glucose, weight, triglycerides, and 25 ECGs. The health motorhome, fully equipped as a mobile medical clinic, was purchased by Lions District 108Ta1 with support from the Lions International Foundation.

The municipality of Savona ordered Luigi, who lives in a broken camper with his dogs Marek and Beta, to vacate the area at his own expense. He volunteers at a local cat shelter but cannot afford to move. Animal rights groups urge authorities to find a humane solution.

Dave Michelotti, spokesperson for the civic movement 'XArco', has denounced the systematic illegal parking of motorhomes in the Bolognano sports field area and other parts of Arco. He states that every weekend, motorhomes occupy public spaces, turning them into unauthorized campsites. In 2025, the municipality launched an awareness campaign urging the use of legal parking areas, but the situation has not improved. Michelotti calls for stricter enforcement by local police.

The municipality of Sanza (Salerno province), as part of the 'Borgo dell’Accoglienza' project funded by the Ministry of Culture under the PNRR, has approved the creation of a tourist information center in the former Santo Stefano church and a new motorhome area with full services. The initiative aims to revitalize the historic center and attract tourists, including the growing motorhome travel segment.

In the Val di Susa valley, an unauthorized dump of about 900 sq m was found on private land. The Financial Guard and forest rangers seized four caravans, a car, and other waste. The landowner has been reported.

A motorhome and a camper van were spotted on the protected dunes of Torre Grande, near the pier, parked in a restricted area just meters from the beach. Local police arrived and asked the tourists to leave the area immediately. No fines were issued, only a verbal warning. The incident occurred on April 27, 2026.
