Motorhome bus parked for weeks on Ubatumirim beach

Residents of Ubatuba report that a bus-based motorhome has been parked on the sand of Ubatumirim beach for over a week. Since September 2025, a municipal law has prohibited the parking and overnight stay of motorhomes and similar vehicles on beaches and other public spaces, with fines of up to R$1000 and possible removal. Authorities have not yet clarified whether this regulation was applied in this case or reported any inspection or fine.

New Protections for Mobile Home Park Residents

Law HB22-1287 took effect in October 2022, strengthening protections for mobile home park residents in the central mountain region. The legislation restricts rent increases when park owners violate regulations, establishes a 12-month notice period for land use changes, and requires bilingual communications in English and Spanish. It also extends residents' rights to purchase parks and enhances the investigative authority of the Department of Local Affairs and the Attorney General's office.
