In January 2026, several RV park projects were approved in the US and Australia.
Texas: RV park for data center workers
The Abilene City Council (Texas) approved a 957-space RV park on Elmdale Street. The facility is intended for temporary housing of workers building data centers. The developer must adhere to a density limit of 10 spaces per acre and conduct a traffic study. Local residents expressed concerns about potential traffic increases of up to 2,000 vehicles per day.
Florida: three projects of varying scale
In Pasco County, Florida, a project for a 350-site RV resort and a 250-room hotel in Dade City was approved. Developer Dhruv Development initially proposed 550 sites but reduced the project.
In Jackson County, Florida, authorities will consider an RV park project in Cottondale. The initial plan for 55 spaces has been reduced to 24. Local residents oppose it due to proximity to schools and potential traffic increases.
In Citrus County, Florida, the commission unanimously approved a rezoning for the Stillwater Estates project in Homosassa. This will allow 39.6 acres to be repurposed: instead of 55 cottages, 110 RV spaces will be built, fewer than the initially proposed 213.
