European Union eases rules for Category B driving licenses

The European Union is changing rules to allow Category B license holders to drive heavier vehicles. The new directive permits driving alternatively powered vehicles up to 4.25 tonnes instead of 3.5 tonnes and provides for obtaining additional authorization to drive heavy motorhomes after specific training. EU member states have four years to transpose these rules into national law.

Fire destroys parked caravan in Voorburg and residential caravan in Slovakia

On Sunday evening, a parked caravan caught fire on Hofzichtlaan in Voorburg. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, but the vehicle was severely damaged. Earlier, a residential caravan in Slovakia was completely destroyed by fire.

Hyundai unveils Staria Camper van concept

Hyundai has revealed the Staria Camper concept, a van conversion based on the MPV. The concept features a pop-up roof with solar panels and will be shown at the CMT show in Stuttgart to gather feedback. A potential production version would be fully electric, using an 84 kWh battery with an estimated range of 400 km.
