An ad on Ibiza offering a motorhome rental for €1,300 per month has drawn criticism. Meanwhile, the Balearic Islands enforce strict penalties: fines for illegal parking reach €30,000, and on Mallorca up to €1,500.
On Ibiza, an advertisement for renting a motorhome parked on a plot for €1,300 per month has sparked indignation among social media users due to the high price.
Restrictions in the Balearic Islands
Authorities on Ibiza have tightened rules for motorhomes since 2024. Long-term parking and overnight stays in rural areas are prohibited. Fines for entering without permission during high season CAN reach €10,000, and for parking in a restricted zone from €10,001 to €30,000. In summer 2025, a motorhome was fined for both violations, potentially totaling €40,000. Legal stays require prior booking at an official campsite. Earlier, municipal authorities introduced restrictions: motorhomes cannot stay in one place for more than three days, and since June 1, a law imposes fines from €10,000 to €30,000 for parking without a reservation.
Situation on Mallorca
On Mallorca, the average rent in Palma reached €18.6 per m² in February 2026, forcing some residents to move into motorhomes. The municipality limits stays in one place to 10 days and imposes fines up to €1,500 for illegal parking, while also creating difficulties with registration for those living in vehicles.
