Over the past week, several incidents involving recreational vehicles have been reported: fires in Florida, Canada, and Virginia, and a camper-towing truck rollover. No casualties, and open fire bans are in effect in some areas.
Chilliwack camper fire (Canada)
On April 12 at around 10:04 PM, a camper parked on a driveway on Chilliwack River Road caught fire. By the time firefighters arrived at 10:10 PM, the vehicle was fully engulfed. Additional units were called to extinguish the blaze.
Travel trailer fires in Alachua County (Florida)
On April 16, crews extinguished a 7‑meter travel trailer that was fully involved in the Lochloosa area. The call came in around 4:20–4:30 AM, and the fire was contained within five minutes. A countywide burn ban remains in effect.
Rollover in Chesapeake (Virginia)
On April 16, a GMC truck towing a camper overturned on the Veterans Bridge in Chesapeake, blocking the roadway. Traffic delays lasted about 90 minutes. No injuries were reported.
Interstate I‑77 motorhome fire (Carroll County, Virginia)
On April 16, a motorhome was completely destroyed by fire on I‑77 northbound at mile marker 9.8. Firefighters found heavy fire in the rear of the vehicle. Preliminary cause is a mechanical malfunction.
