From May 1, Zlín bans parking of vans over 5 m and caravans in Jižní Svahy. From May 4, similar restrictions apply at the P+R Příluky lot and the Torzo lot. The measures target long-term parking to free up spaces.
The city of Zlín, Czech Republic, is introducing new parking restrictions for vans, caravans, and motorhomes. The measures will affect several areas and take effect on May 1 and May 4, 2026.
Key changes
- Jižní Svahy housing estate — from May 1, parking of all vehicles over 5 meters long, including vans and caravans, is prohibited. According to some sources, vans longer than 5 meters may use designated spots at the Okružní parking lot and under the first segment of the estate.
- P+R Příluky park-and-ride — from May 4, a complete ban on parking motorhomes, caravans, and cargo trailers. The lot was previously used for long-term storage of such vehicles, reducing spaces for daily commuters and hospital visitors (the nearby hospital is undergoing modernization).
- Torzo parking lot — from May 4, the regime changes: caravans and special equipment are banned, but long vans (over 5 m) are allowed.
Reasons
Residents complained about "wild" parking, with vans and caravans occupying spots for weeks or months. The city aims to free up parking spaces for local residents and short-term trips. Compliance will be enforced by the municipal police.
Similar restrictions were previously announced for the P+R Příluky lot.
